Recommendation of the New Chief Justice for the 'High Court' of India

 Recently the Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the government for the appointment of new Chief Justices for the three High Courts. The three High Courts include the High Courts of Uttarakhand, Odisha and Meghalaya.  



                                                                                                                               Let us tell you that this collegium for appointment was headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud.Justice Ritu Bahri has been recommended for appointment as Chief Justice of Uttarakhand High Court

Along with this, the name of Justice Chakradhari Sharan Singh has been proposed as the Chief Justice of Odisha High Court.

• At the same time, Justice S. of Madras High Court. Vaidyanathan has been recommended for appointment as Chief Justice of Meghalaya High Court

About Supreme Court Collegium-

• It is a system of appointment and transfer of judges

• This system has not been established by any Act of Parliament or provision of the Constitution but has developed through the decisions of the Supreme Court.

• The collegium of the Supreme Court is headed by the Chief Justice of India (CJI)

 It consists of four other senior most judges of the Supreme Court

• Judges of High Courts are also appointed through the collegium system.

The role of the government in this process is only after the name is decided by the collegium.
